Grassmayr bell foundry

Grassmayr foundry and museum: experience centuries of tradition here. Bells and works of art have been cast from bronze here since 1599. On entering the old casting hall, visitors can sense the mystique of this traditional craft. A 200-year-old wood-burning furnace is not only a historical document, but also a tool still steeped in tradition. The masterpiece of the ‘Bell Museum’ is the successful combination of museum rooms with living craftsmanship. Visitors can watch the casters at work in the modern and colourful bell foundry during operating hours. The heart of the bell foundry is a six metre deep pit in which a bell weighing a maximum of 37 tonnes could be cast.

Bergisel ski jump

The architectural highlight of the sporting Olympic city of Innsbruck: the modern Bergisel ski jump shines impressively in the south of the city. The famous architect Zaha Hadid is responsible for this architectural masterpiece. In the Bergisel stadium, she elegantly combines the ski jumping tower, café and inrun track to form a striking, signal-like unit. 255 steps or a few minutes in the modern inclined lift separate the tower entrance of the spectacular building from the 360-degree panoramic view of the magnificent mountain backdrop of Patscherkofel, Nordkette, Hohe Munde and Serles, which is 47 metres higher up. The breathtaking view can be enjoyed both on the roof terrace and below the viewing platform in the café in the tower, which serves hot food all day long.

Imperial Palace

Nordkette- top of Innsbruck

The journey from the Hungerburg to the Seegrube (1,905 m) takes just 8 minutes. It takes a further 5 minutes to reach the Hafelekar (2,260 m). From the Congress Centre, the Innsbruck Nordkettenbahnen cable car takes just 20 minutes to the Seegrube mountain station with fantastic panoramic views of the city of Innsbruck, the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountains. The Seegrube is the starting point for hikers, climbers and downhill mountain bikers. For more leisurely types, there are benches with panoramic views or the terrace of the Alpenlounge Seegrube with comfortable deckchairs. From the Hafelekar mountain station at 2,269 metres, the trail leads over seven peaks to the Frau-Hitt saddle. The view of the Inn Valley and the Karwendel is breathtaking.
